Local 501 Veterans Committee Report July 10th 2024

On February 29th, 2024 our local 501 President Victor J. Gonzalez hosted a local JFK/LGA Veterans Committee meeting at our 501 Union Hall in Maspeth Queens, New York.

March 28th, 2024 tasked and conducted military angel flight American Airlines Flight 234 SFO airport to JFK Airport for United States Marines Veteran Corporal James A. Galarza. Received by Leo F. Kearns Funeral Home in Queens New York.

April 9th, 2024 tasked and conducted military angel flight American Airlines flight 2041 ORD airport to LGA airport active duty United States Navy Reservist GSMA/FDNY EMT Jansen Marc Bolanos. Received by Westchester Funeral Home In Eastchester New York. Made contact with George Vokl TWU local 512.

April 12th, 2024 good of the Veterans Committee invited and attended the testimonial dinner at Antun’s catering hall Queens Village New York for the American Legion National Commander United States Navy Veteran Daniel J. Seehafer.

April 25th, 2024 set up a Fleet Service Agent field display at hanger 10 for career day and spoke to high school students.

May 6th attended the funeral for a JFK Crew Chief/ Trainer Tony Jimenez. A vest displayed so that TWU members could sign the vest was presented to the family at Ballard Durand Funeral Home in Valhalla, NY.

May 11th, 2024 participated in Mission 4 of the Big Apple Honor flight that departed from LGA to DCA with 63 Veterans.

May 13th, 2024 invited by TWU International Representative Jose Galarza to attend the COPE (Community on Political Education)conference in Washington D.C. attended the conference with GSE Christopher Kiernan.

May 27th, 2024 good of the Veterans Committee attended the Belle Harbor, NY prayer mass at St. Francis de sales church and participated in the Memorial Day parade Rockaway Park, New York.

May 30th tasked and conducted the arrival to JFK Airport World War ll Army Veteran Staff Sergeant Dominic Critelli 102 yrs old who was traveling to DFW to link with other WWII Veterans who were traveling to Normandy France to attend the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion.
