The TWU-IAM Association yesterday presented American Airlines with a comprehensive package of positions/proposals that will serve as the foundation to achieve joint collective bargaining agreements for 30,000 ground workers at the largest, most profitable airline.
Sito Pantoja and Harry Lombardo, Chair and Vice Chair of the Association, attended the opening of negotiations and reiterated to American management that only the industry’s best contracts will be acceptable and reminded them of the past sacrifices made by Association members that have enabled American to be the largest and most profitable airline in the world.
After the Association presented the positions/proposals to American, management representatives then caucused to take a cursory look at the openers. Management then returned, complimented the negotiating committees on their level of detail and prep work and agreed to set future bargaining dates. Those dates will be announced when they are confirmed.

As 2015 comes to an end, our Local 501 Executive Board would like to wish all of our members and their family a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year. In 2016 we the TWU as a whole will have many expectations and experience many challenges in the Air Transport Division.
Pertaining to the Equity Distribution, should the Judge rule in our favor, our members will promptly receive their remaining share.
As for the Pre-funding Arbitration case which was held in DFW on November 17 & 18, 2015, there are briefs in the case that still remain to be presented scheduled in January 2016. If the Arbitrator rules in the TWU's favor our members should receive the Prefunding/Retiree Medical company match.
The most important expectation for our members in 2016, most certainly will be the accomplishment of obtaining Industry Leading Joint Collective Bargaining Agreements for our Mechanic & Related and Fleet Service Clerks.
When the JCBA's are in place, our Executive Board will need ALL of our membership's continued support more than ever as we navigate through complex agreements for the next few years. In 2016 and into the future your administration is prepared for any and all challenges we may face, and are committed to providing a robust representation for our entire membership.
