Injury on Duty Medical Attention and Care
It has recently come to the attention of the Officers of Local 501, that our members are either being directed by AA Management or are somehow being steered in the direction of Med-Port at JFK, This notice is meant to aid you in making an informed decision concerning your heath care and the treatment of your injury.
• The selection of your Attending Physician in a Workers Compensation Case under
New York State Statues is left to the sole discretion of the InjuredI Member. "You can
see the Doctor of your choice".
• The Company can ask you to see medical providers if they have negotiated special
financial terms. However they cannot chose just one provider (Med-Port). AA is
required by the state statues to provide you with more than one option. The company
can also request that you see an IME- Independent Medical Examiner at some point.
» The only program that currently exists under the state statues that allows an
employer to select, who you have to see for your workers comp medical care is called the Preferred Provider Program and upon examination by our Workers Compensation Attorney (Med-Port) doesn't meet the base criteria of the program. AA currently doesn't participate in this program
